Brooklyn, New York- July 1, 2016 – A New York City resident has filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, New York County, alleging that she sustained person injury in the form of second degree burns and permanent scarring to her chest and breasts after using Hothands.
Hothands is a body and hand warmer product manufactured by Heatmax, Inc. and sold in various stores throughout the country. In her lawsuit, the Plaintiff’s claims against Heatmax, Inc. and Walgreens Eastern Co., Inc. for manufacturing and selling the Hothands product, respectively.
Hothands is a body and hand warmer product that advertises itself on the front of its package as “safe, natural heat.” The lawsuit states, however, that Hothands can reach 180 degrees Fahrenheit and has a history of causing severe burns.
Alex Umansky, lead counsel and partner at the Law Office of Yuriy Moshes, P.C., stated, “We are seeking punitive damages in this suit because Heatmax has had knowledge of its product’s ability to cause burns for over fifteen (15) years, but has ignored its duty to consumers by failing to place warnings on the packaging of the product.”
“Heatmax misleads its customers,” added Yuriy Moshes, the principal of the firm. “The company has consistently failed to deliver on its promise of Hothands being a ‘safe, natural heat’ product.”
